Burn Baby, Burn: Why I support torching the Mexican flag

First off, let me say that this is not meant to attack Mexicans, but to raise awareness of the double standard with regard to flag protection as well as one creative way to protest illegal immigration. According to Fox News, David Bohmfalk was charged with burning without a permit, after burning the Mexican flag outside the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. According to the story, Bohmfalk was angry and decided to make a statement. He noted that Americans can burn the American flag, which he argued has led to the desensitization over the act, so why not burn the Mexican flag as well.

This issue raises issues surrounding the concept of protected speech, which burning the American flag is considered. I personally feel that burning the flag should be a crime, as it is stained with the blood of countless men and women, who have fought and died to ensure that our nation would remain free. However, if the courts are going to say that burning our flag is protected, then I say burn other nation's flags as well. If this is the plan, then there is no better target to begin with than the Mexican flag.

Why the Mexican flag? Easy. All too often we see left-wing radicals burning our nation's flag while enjoying the freedoms provided by our nation. Then we see these protests about immigration with hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people who should NOT even be in this country and what are they doing besides whining about supposed rights that they have NO right to? They are flying Mexican flags, or some other Latin American nation's flag. What better way to kill two birds with one lighter, anger liberal wackos and protest illegal immigration, than to burn the Mexican flag.

David Bohmfalk started the movement in Texas. Now all that is needed is for citizens to go out and do the following:

  • purchase Mexican flags first (the other Latin American nations will come later, then the nations that stand against us, and so on)
  • acquire the proper permit (we want to do this within the law)
  • gather your friends that are like-minded
  • make sure you have a good lighter
  • finally, make sure you are near a group (and make sure your group outnumbers them) of whiny protesters either flying Mexican (or other nation/cause) flag, or burning the American flag (try to stop them if they haven't lit the flag), and light your flag, enjoying the warmth and glow of sweet counter-protesting

While this may be fun, you are expected to be respectful when lodging a successful counter-protest. Make sure you have the proper permits and stay within the law, and always treat the law enforcement officers with respect. I have read accounts of police commending counter-protesters at liberal protests, while being very angry at the liberal protesters, usually because they are disrespectful and prevent the officers from doing their jobs.

So, in conclusion, fight to protect our flag from being desecrated by hippies burning it, consider burning a Mexican flag to protest the double standard, as well as illegal immigration, and be responsible and follow the law. Finally, make sure to show your opponents that you appear to be enjoying what you are doing, as that will only pour salt in their wounds. As the Doors sang, "Come on baby, light my fire."
